Banshee Users:
VoodooLights uses a trick to get 3D-only cards like the Voodoo1 or VoodooII
simulate rendering in a window. Banshee cards don't need this trick and
can render in a window directly. Unfortunately, I don't have a Banshee card
to make the window rendering code compatible with all systems. Thus, Banshee
cards will fail when trying to open the VoodooLights control panel.
As a temporary solution to this problem, you can use the registry script
found in this folder to disable the animation in the About tab of the
VoodooLights control panel.
Windows NT users:
Voodoo II drivers for Windows NT, generate a "Mapmem driver
initialization failed" error when more than one application
tries to use the 3Dfx hardware. There seems to be no way to
avoid this error. As a result, you cannot preview VoodooLights
or open the Control panel (Settings) directly from Display Properties.
One solution is to preview or access the VoodooLights control panel by
using the shortcuts provided in the Start Menu. (With Display Properties closed)
By disabling the "3DinWindow" feature of the VoodooLights control panel
it is possible to use "Settings" button from Display Properties. Use the
registry scripts enable and disable that feature.
